The city is located in Yavapai County and serves as the county seat.

The 'Whiskey Row' region of the city also provides a unique selection of shops and restaurants, as well as a variety of historic bars and saloons. Many local artisans and craftspeople also showcase their wares in 'Whiskey Row'.
